What is naturopathic medicine?Naturopathic medicine is a distinct primary health care profession, emphasizing prevention, treatment, and optimal health through the use of therapeutic methods and substance that encourage individuals' inherent self-healing process. The practice of naturopathic medicine includes modern and traditional, scientific, and empirical methods. The following principles are the foundation of naturopathic medical practice: The Healing Power of Nature (Vis Medicatrix Naturae): Naturopathic medicine recognizes an inherent self-healing process in people that is ordered and intelligent. Naturopathic physicians act to identify and remove obstacles to healing and recovery, and to facilitate and augment this inherent self-healing process. Identify and Treat the Causes (Tolle Causam): First Do No Harm (Primum Non Nocere): Utilize methods and medicinal substance which minimize the risk of harmful side effects, using the least force necessary to diagnose and treat; Avoid when possible the harmful suppression of symptoms; and Acknowledge, respect, and work with individuals' self-healing process. Doctor as Teacher (Docere): Naturopathic physicians educate their patients and encourage self-responsiblility for health. They also recognize and employ the therapeutic potential of the doctor-patient relationship. Treat the Whole Person: Naturopathic physicians treat each patient by taking into account individual physical, mental, emotional, genetic, environmental, social, and other factors. Since total health also includes spiritual health, naturopathic physicians encourage individuals to pursue their person spiritual develpment. Prevention: Naturopathic physicians emphasize the prevention of disease by assessing risk factors, heredity and susceptibility to disease, and by making appropriate interventions in partnership with their patients to prevent illness. NATUROPATHIC PRACTICE Naturopathic practice includes the following diagnostic and therapeutic modalities: clinical and laboratory diagnostic testing, nutritional medicine, botancial medicine, naturopathic physical medicine (including naturopathic manipulative therapy), public health measures, hygiene, counseling, minor surgery, homeopathy, acupuncture, prescription medication, intravenous and injection therapy, and naturopathic obstetrics (natural childbirth). Are Naturopathic Medical Doctors considered Primary Care Physicians (PCP)?Yes! We are so excited to be extending the full scope of practice to Naturopathic Medical Doctors (which is different than traditional certified Naturopaths) here in the state of New Mexico. Dr. Franco-Chavez was an integral part of the licensure for Naturopathic Doctors in New Mexico. However, currently licensure in NM does not mean insurance options are available at the federal level. This is something that will be worked through in the future in Washington D.C. and we are shooting for 2021. This license means that now Naturopathic Doctors can perform full exams and everything a PCP does by being regulated. On that note, The Healing House of NM is Community & Designer Healthcare, meaning we may never opt to take insurance as it dictate what and how we treat. Since Dr. Franco-Chavez is unique in her approach she bridges the gap between Eastern and Western medicine as her expertise this is something very important for health and prevention. Most patients that maintain and continue in optimal health never have a problem paying out of pocket - aka investing in their health. It's much less expensive over time than even insurance and copays throughly the span of a sick vs. a healthy person. We live in a "sick" dictated insurance-controlled environment instead of a "health" dictate one in the US, unfortunately. We do things different here at The Healing House. We focus on well-being and health instead of dis-ease.

Does Dr. Franco-Chavez take insurance?Dr. Franco-Chavez has spent several sessions lobbying and legislating in Washington D.C. for insurance to cover her care on a federal level as a Naturopathic Primary Care Physician. We continue to look toward the future and are confident that we are setting practices in place here at The Healing House that will help bring in all levels of the community, regardless of status financilly or insurance wise. We are in the process of hiring other insurance based practitioners on staff so that we can provide insurance benefit care to our surrounding community. Our Doctor of Oriental Medicine Dr. Paloma Blaire and her massage therapist assistant do take some forms of insurance. Dr. Franco-Chavez will start taking Medicaid patients in 2021. It will be on a first-come, first-serve basis and will be limited to a certain age group as we begin servicing.

Can I do a payment plan for Physician services? After reviewing our business systems, we are not capable of doing a payment plan for billing services ALREADY rendered, due to many factors. All services are due in full at time of service, especially for Physician visits since we are running a multi-functioning facility. Since Naturopathic medicine is so comprehensive and it take multiple visits for a desired outcome-especially in chronic disease situations, a patient will be well into their second, third, and even fourth appointment within the month or two and still not have finished paying on their first visit. Keep in mind, Naturopathic medicine is best utilized on a continuous basis. Therefore, it is not appropriate to try and collect payments on a post-service time-frame continously. Patients need to be committed to really having the cost-associated services to help drive motiviation toward working hard themselves to ensure they are doing all protocals at home. We find cost-benefit associated as a driving force as one of the biggest incentives for patient compliance.

Do I have to fill out the HIPAA form? I want my information to stay private. You want to fill out the HIPAA form because it protects all of your information. The form is just for Dr. Franco-Chavez. She would only use it for example, if she ever needed to consult another physician on your behalf. However, anytime she every does this, you will always need to sign a request form for her to do so. All the links are HIPAA compliant links and it is for Dr. FRanco-Chavez and her assistant ONLY. We never share any information or patient files otherwise so your information stays private and confidential.
-
Can I print out patient intake forms or have them emailed to me in a different way?As far as Google forms, the links are HIPAA compliant and only "filloutable" through the links online. They cannot be emailed in another format unfortunately. There is no need to print the forms. We prefer electronic reciept of patient paperwork. Links can be filled out online at home as they submit to our portal instantly and route to each respective electronic location for our EMR system.
